Starting over with a clean slate

In my headcanon, I can see Johnny as a broken soul.

In the very first season, he's just a typical hyperactive kid who just wanted to have some fun, solitude, and excitement, but in the later seasons, he started to get worse. In this case, most of the events and tragedies is not always his fault. His actions and behavior are actually a result of how the world is treating him poorly, such as being in the shadows of his egocentric moronic lonesome sisters, unfairly punished by his abusive stay-at-home father, barely got his mother's attention, bullied by a terrorist-like brute, harnessed by a rich snob, shunned by the townspeople, and being reported for countless disastrous events even most of them are unintentional and not on purpose. This makes total sense and explains why is he worse in later episodes. In fairness, he's just a kid! , The rest of the Test Family and almost every character in the series are much more worried about Johnny's actions and their goals instead of his own health, life, and well-being. Seriously, it feels like nobody cares if he's in an asylum or was killed somewhere. Grounding him and not even discipline isn't gonna work at all. At least Johnny himself has much more morality than his entire family does. Heck, he's even the one who stood up for himself while the rest sometimes act like punks and cowards in several episodes. He does have friends, but he hides the pain.

For anyone, who finds it strange and unfitting, imagine yourself being in this situation. That shit would pretty much make anyone unhappy!

One day, he got grounded again...For Johnny, it was the final straw. After months and years of pain, he decided that enough is enough. In the night, he packed his stuff and wrote a letter before leaving the house with an open window. He also takes Dukey with him. They left Porkbelly and went into BBB's island. Thankfully, he wasn' there, since he took a vacation with his mother. They went into his lab, while attempting to cover the traces. They see a portal machine, turned it on and selected a random world and went in, before it closed. When they entered the new world, they've been turned into ponies with Dukey being a pony/dog hybrid. They'll later meet the Mane 6, Spike and others.

One day, Rainbow Dash saw him in a dark mood. When asked why, he didn't respond. After he mumbled something, which the blue mare didn't understand, he said to hear, that the reason he went to Equestria, because he was tired of the pain and abuse in his world so much, he has to leave forever. Tears streamed down on his face, when he told her that. Rainbow Dash was shocked, that he was damaged on the inside. She hugged him and as a result, he cried.

"It's ok. Let it all out..."

Rainbow Dash: Hey Johnny, what are you doing at night?

Johnny Test: Nothing...

Rainbow Dash: What's wrong? I thought you already let it out...

Johnny Test: No...I can't...I can't let all of my past go...

Rainbow Dash: Well, there's only one way to fix this.

Johnny Test: What is it?

Rainbow Dash: How about we should sing "Time to be Awesome"! Just like back in time with me and Captain Celaeno!

Johnny Test: Um are you sure about that?

[Rainbow Dash]

I know the world can get you down

P.P (Pinkie Pie): Rainbow! Rainbow! Rainbow!

Rainbow Dash goes up into the air, then dashed down, making a Sonic Rainboom.

Rainbow Dash: Aw yeah!

Johnny Test: Wow! Thanks Dashie! I felt so happy in my heart now!

[instrumental ends]

While Johnny and Dukey enjoy their new lives in Equestria, the Test sisters live the same way. That is until, they were blamed by their parents for Johnny's disappearance and punished unfairly. As if that wasn't bad enough, the next day rumors spread, that Johnny's family have something to do with his absence.

At this point, their eyes opened the truth. They're been extremely arrogant and horrible to their brother and Dukey the whole time, while at the same time, receiving the unfair punishments from their parents. They decided, that everybody would be better off without them and they would turn a new leaf.

One night, they snuck into their lab and left a note behind. They took their stuff and ran away to the end of Porkbelly. They activated a portal and used Johnny's hair sample to locate him. It showed a village full of ponies.

Mary said: "Are you sure about this?" Her sister, Susan replied: "At this point, there is no return. Plus, we will start over and make amends." They looked back at their former home one last time, took one deep breath and entered it. The portal automatically closed.

When they opened their eyes, they were in a forest. They thought, that they were still in their world.....that was, until they looked at their hands, which were turned into hooves and when they looked at their reflection on a puddle, they realized, that they were turned into unicorns!

They obviously panicked, however they calmed down and were on their way to find them.



Yep, Susan and Mary also wanted to start over. They would soon find new friends and would also understand well with Twilight Sparkle.

Susan and Mary were wandering around Equestria, finding the two for a talk. They even asked other ponies for their location, but they had no idea.

Eventually after it felt like hours, they found them alongside with an orange earth pony and a blue pegasus. However, when the guys see them, they only gave them a cold look. Meaning that, they're not happy...

They tried to talk to them, wanting to apologize. However, there was no response. They tried again, but again, no response. However, when they tried for a third time, Johnny got really annoyed and yelled at them for being jerks. Not to mention, he was being overshadowed by them (similar to a green plumber, I suppose) and being part of his pain. He also added: "It's over. We are no longer connected!"

The sisters were shocked. Not only their own brother said that to them, it seems like he completely rejected them from his life. What's more, Dukey didn't help them. He agreed, what he said. The girls ran away with tears in their eyes.

"What the hay is going on? Johnny, that's cold. " the orange pony, named Applejack , replied. However Rainbow Dash whispered the whole story in her ear. Applejack was shocked about that. Around the same time, Rarity came by, looking confused as of what's going on. Applejack told her about the whole ordeal. She too became shocked and all three went to Twilight's castle, in order to notify her.

The three ponies told to Twilight about the whole situation.

"We're not makin'up, pal." Applejack said.

Rainbow Dash told her about the background. The reason, why they decided to stay there and such. Twilight is confused. She never had a complicated reason before. She told Applejack and the two others to tell at them, while she would discuss to Spike.

Later, Applejack said: "Have you lost you minds? Ah know the story, but that doesn't mean, ya have to be mean to yer sisters!" There was no response. Around the same time, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Starlight Glimmer walked in and looked confused. Rarity told them about the situation. Meanwhile Dukey told her, that their decision was justified.

Suddenly, Twilight ran to them, looking panicked. "It's Princess Celestia! She said, there is trouble in Canterlot! We have to get there immediately! Starlight, Spike! You need to stay with the boys!" The Mane 6 ran out to Canterlot with alarming speed.

The four ponies ran out ofTwilight's Castle to investigate the shaking. They look around, but then they hear ponies screaming for help.

"It's coming from Ponyville! We need to hurry!" Sunset said.

They arrive to Ponyville, only too see ponies running away with terrified faces. They also see Celestia and Luna leading the evacuation.

"Princess Celestia, what's going on?" Starlight asked. Celestia replied: "It seems like, Nightmare returned for some reason." Luna also replied: "Even though, it was banished, somehow the essence still exists."

They hear evil laughter from somewhere. Suddenly, Twilight was flown from an unknown direction. She was injured and unconscious. Black mist surrounded the ponies. Starlight and Sunset light up their horns, while the others hear the laughter getting closer. Pair of hooves appear out of the mist. They look up, only to see two nightmare-ish ponies with red manes with dark gradients and sparkles. They also have evil grins.

Johnny and Dukey are shocked, as they recognized those ponies. They are Susan and Mary, who became corrupted by the evil power!

"No..." Johnny was in disbelief. Tears streamed from his face. Why has he been so mean to them?

"Nightmare has somehow took control to their bodies. We have to save them before they will corrupt Equestria!" Celestia told to him.

Starlight and Sunset stepped in front of the guys and prepared for an attack.

"Well, if it isn't those rats again..." Nightmare Susan said. Not to mention, Nightmare Mary added "Once we finish you, Equestria will be our test subject...FOREVER!!!"

"It will never happen!" Sunset replied. "Come on, everypony! We have to save them from the nightmare within!"

Twilight's remaining friends ran to the others, while Applejack carrys Twilight's body. They attempt to wake her up and she did, only a few minutes later..

"Twilight, are you okay?" Sunset said with a worried look. The purple alicorn looked at her and said "Sunset? What are you doing?"

"I was visiting your world, when that happened." She replied.

The earth shook again.

"Have you tried to use the elements with in you?" Celestia asked. Rarity replied: "We did, but they were too strong. They even hurt Twilight."

The earth shook again. This time, the skies darkened. And the Nightmare Twins glared at them, as if they were thinking about a plan.

"So...What should we do, before we make this place to a test ground for us?" Nightmare Mary asked. Nightmare Susan replied: "How about messing with our brother and his pesky dog hard?"

They grin evilly and proceed to do it. Their horns glow and release a shockwave, which cause everyone, minus Johnny and Dukey to fall under their control. The brainwashed ponies chant the sentence "Why did you do this? You're so heartless!" in an endless loop. They go closer to the duo, who were scared. "Well, how do you feel, being humiliated, twats? But don't worry....We will finish you slow and painful."

The Nightmare Twins use their magic to grab them and they prepare for a finishing blow, when suddenly , they were hit by cyan and red beams, releasing the guys from the grasp. They look around, only to see Starlight and Sunset, who somehow broke free.

"How is this possible!?!?" Nightmare Susan was shocked.

"They made mistakes before, but so do we! We are not flawless!" Sunset replied. Starlight added: "We've seen their progress before, when they started to live here. It has been improving! They became more happy and they soon learned about friendship! Something, that never happened in their old world before! And now, the time has come for you to get out of this madness!"

Their words echoed though Equestria, which caused the four to float. A shockwave was released, breaking the mane 6 from the spell. They soon begin to float. "Together, with the power of friendship, we will set you free from evil!" The nine ponies said in unison. Their powers combine and their bodies glow. Their eyes glowed white, as they unleash a rainboom and a magical beam, that first rise up then went straight to them. The Nightmare Twins tried to use their magic to block it, but ultimately, it was useless and they were hit and surrounded by the beam. As they scream in anguish, the area shines really brightly.

After the glow, everything went back to normal. "Did it work?" Dukey asked, to make sure. Twilight nodded. They hear sobbing. It was the sisters, who were turned to normal. Twilight, Starlight and Sunset came to them and comfort the two crying unicorns.

"We'll take them to my castle, so they can recover and we will find a solution to fix the complicated issue." Said Twilight.

The three teleport to Twilight's castle with them.

"Gosh, why do I feel so guilty?" Johnny sighed, however Dukey replied "Correction: Why do WE feel so guilty? We really didn't mean to say that...."

"It's not your fault. You probably had a bad day, that caused this slip up" Rarity assured them. Celestia added "Besides, it doesn't matter. Nightmare would get them based on their past actions anyway."

"Hey, how about the destroyed houses?" Rainbow Dash reminded? Applejack replied: "We will fix 'em."

"Come on, everypony! We have a party after the clean up!" Pinkie Pie cheered and all ponies worked on the cleanup.

"I wonder why this even happened..." Fluttershy asked.

Starlight and Sunset are comforting the crying sisters, who now felt the guilt. Meanwhile, Twilight used her magic to get a book. But not any book...

When asked by Sunset, why they decided to go there in the first place (not the reasoning why they went evil, since it was already covered.), the sisters replied, that they only want to turn over a new leaf. Starlight thought to herself "Wait...That's the same reason, Johnny and Dukey went here in the first place."

But they were told by them, that their little brother was mad to them and rejected them. However, Starlight assured, that he didn't mean it and he would apologise. Then Sunset asked one thing:

"What made you leave your world forever?"

It took a while, but eventually, Susan replied:

"It's because we saw our errors. Our egotism and high ambitions has slowly poisoned us and caused those horrendous things to everyone involved."

Sunset was touched. It reminded of herself, when she was in a similar situation. She too was poisoned by that ambition and egotism. But in the end, she redeemed herself. She assured them, that they were not the only ones with that mistake.

Then Twilight came to them with the book. When Mary asked, what it is, the purple Alicorn replied, that it's the book of friendship and gave them the basic infos. Sunset also gave them an advice:

"Ambition is not important. But Friendship is."

Starlight also said: "Sure, everyone has flaws, but that's, what it makes us unique from the others."

Susan said "Yeah, but there is no excuse for what we did."

"If you're willing to learn, I will teaching you, what I've known" Twilight replied. When Mary asked, how they would start, Twilight replied:

"All you have to do is make a friend. And you got 9 of us, right?"


(Cue song!)

Meanwhile.....

The guys were waiting for the sisters.. They were anxious, given the fact, that they were mean to them a while ago. Princess Celestia and Luna were by them, assuring the guys, that they will forgive.

As the girls spent some time with the mane 8 to learn about friendship, Johnny and Dukey were still waiting. They looked anxious, as they were afraid, that they would never forgive them. After all, they think, it was their fault. However, Princess Celestia placed her wings on them and said "Don't worry. I'm pretty sure, they will forgive you. Besides, you have developed so much." Luna also assured them, that despite the things she had done to everypony, her sister always gave her a second chance and was taught by the Mane 6 about the value of not just friendship, but also of family.

After some time has passed, the twins returned with the Mane 8. "We're back, Princess Celestia! We taught them some basics about friendship and it seemed like, they learned it steadily." Twilight explained.

After some pep talk from Luna, Johnny and Dukey went to them. The sisters looked skeptical, however, Johnny took a deep breath and said:

"Look....We're sorry for being so mean to you earlier. It's just, the pain got the better of us and we didn't mean to... I feel also regrettful, that I felt responsible for turning you evil... It's also ok, if you don't forgive us...I really wanted to get thoee guilty feelings out of me..." He lowered his ears, as he heard the silence. However, once he was about to turn around and leave, he was held by a multi-colored magical force. When he looked back, it was Susan and Mary, who held him. They all hug him in silence, but with smiles.

"We forgive you, little brother." They said softly. They also assured Dukey, that they forgive him too.

"It's finally over." Rainbow Dash exclaimed. However, Celestia responded "Not yet, they still have to fix their broken relations. However, I can sense, that if they managed to overcome their errors and make up for them, they will be destined for a new great thing."

"We'll make sure of that. We will help them understanding the true values of friendship and family." Twilight assured. The four hugged each other, before Pinkie Pie jumped over them and yelled: "It's time for a party!"

However, Applejack assured, that it's basically Pinkie's way of a celebration. Everypony laughed.

Meanwhile, Johnny, Dukey, Susan and Mary were ready to start over their lives with a clean slate and thanked the others for the help. They looked at the sky and smiled, as they were looking forward for a brighter future.

The twelve ponies were sent to the Canterlot Hospital, where they would be taken care by nurses. The nurses also took care of Johnny's injuries, which were caused by the fight against Nightmare Dash. A few hours later, the mane 6 woke up.

"Where am I?...." Twilight asked, before a mare showed up and replied: "You are in the hospital, Ms. Sparkle. You and your friends are here, because you were found passed out by the citizens.I should also mention, that 6 more ponies were also found passed out as well."

"I hope, they'll be okay..." Fluttershy was worried about the 6 ponies,

Sometime later, they were released from the hospital and saw the royal sisters waiting. They were glad to see them.

When Applejack saw some damaged buildings, she asked: "What the hay is going on here?"

In which, Celestia responded: "You and your friends were possessed by nightmare and attempted to change Equestria into their Shadow Realm. Luckily, Starlight, Johnny and the others were able to stop it." Hearing Starlight's name, the girls were worried. And Celestia added: "I suppose, their new powers have overloaded themselves, because it was too powerful."

They were waiting and waiting, eventually exchanging some talks as of what happened. The Mane 6 explained, that they did their usual business, when they were surrounded by black mist. They were also shown their greatest failures and before they knew it, they blacked out and when they woke up, they were in a void. Luna connected those claims into one conclusion: "It seems like, after they took control on Susan and Mary, the entity got stronger by feeding their fears and failures. In which, it decided to take control of you girls."

Sometime later, they saw Starlight Glimmer and Trixie walking. As the duo saw Twilight and her friends back to normal, they immediately hugged them. As Starlight turned around, she saw the sisters alive and well. " Princess Celestia, Princess Luna! Thank goodness, you're alive! We saw the nightmares destroying you..." the lavender unicorn was glad but also a bit confused. But the alicorns explained, that the attack only made them fall into a coma. But not any coma, a healing coma, which made them recover.

They were waiting for the 4 ponies, who were still in the hospital. Essentially, they were released and when they saw the 6 back to normal, they all engage in one big group hug.

However, around the same time, Spike came. "I came as fast as I could! I'm ready to save-" He was panicked until he saw Twilight and her friends alive and well and became confused, but relieved. "Sorry, dude. You just came a little too late. We already dealt it." Johnny assured the little dragon. When he was asked, where he was during the time, he replied, that he was busy. Everypony laugh with him.

The nightmare is over. And peace returned to Equestria. A celebration was held for the new heroes. There were parties and more and everypony hailed them as heroes.

A new chapter of hope has begun...

After the celebration, everyone was chatting quite happily until Sunset Shimmer told, that she will stay in the human world, since it needs a guardian. They were speechless. Well, except Johnny and his crew, who had just known her. Sunset said: "I know, it's a difficult decision, I really know. But, I miss my friends there. And their world has to be guarded, so no evil can pass through."

Celestia just smiled warmly, because she is proud of her. However, who will guard the 6th new element? Sunset got an idea and teleported Trixie there. (Specifically her pony counterpart.) She told the blue unicorn mare, that Starlight told to her, how much she had evolved and even saved Equestria with her along with Discord and Thorax. Meaning, that she is ready for the next step.

She used her magic to transfer the new power to Trixie. She glowed for a short moment, before returning back to normal. "The power is all yours." Sunset said.

Trixie smiled and was hugged by Starlight Glimmer. Dukey then asked: "Did we defeat this 'Nightmare' for good?"

Celestia looked concerned and replied: "Unfortunately, at the last minute, it escaped and hid somewhere". Trixie replied: "Hey, we can defeat it together sometime." In which the white alicorn replied: "That is the right attitude."

A portal was created and as they say farewell to each other , Sunset promised, that she would visit them sometime. Afterwhich, she entered the portal.

"We're sure gonna miss her." Starlight said. But Twilight assured, that they will see her again in the future.

Meanwhile, the quartet smiled, knowing that their new life has just begun. New adventures will await them, whenever if it's intentional or not. They are ready for a new future.
